Delays

6 min read

So, I've been pretty inactive for a while - by way of  new posts. I've had time to review a lot of the awesome deviations on my gigantic watch list, and write a few reviews here and there, but ultimately I haven't been as active as I wish I were. Anyhow, I hope everyone is doing well.
Since my last journal entry, I've moved from Texas to Kentucky. I've moved quite a bit in the past 5 years...this will be my 31st move in my life, and 12 of them were in the last 5 years. I've moved across the majority of the US! Kind of fun, but also a pain.
I've discovered that the doctors of Kentucky (overall) are a lot better than those in California, Nevada, and ESPECIALLY Texas. My neurologist here has to be my favorite doctor so far. He's really smart, and attentive to details. My GP is pretty good, too. My next stop is a geneticist, and hopefully a better Endocrinologist. They still have no idea as to why my chemicals are so messed up. I'm hoping that when they figure that out, they'll be able to determine what is causing my black out spells. Maybe I'll be able to work again someday. I hate sitting at home all day, only getting the $985 a month on disability that I get. Barely enough to cover my insurance and medical bills - I'm lucky my folks let me move back in with them, or I'd be up the creek without a paddle. Not being able to drive or work plays a large part in my lack of photography, but I don't have much of an excuse for not writing poetry...it's easy to do, and takes very little time. I guess the majority of my time has been spent with my nose in a book, my ear on a speaker, or eyes glued to the screen while I play a game. In the last 2 years I've read 275000+ pages. The majority of which are novels, not picture books - but i have read a coupe thousand pages of picture books - like James Gurney's Dinotopia books. Can't blame me for that, though. They are good. I have discovered a new favorite author, though. Brandon Sanderson. I LOVE all of his books. Has to be the absolute best author of all time. The "Mistborn Trilogy" ("Mistborn - The Final Empire", "The Well of Ascension" and "The Hero of Ages") - I've read it 18 times in 2 years. That's a good several hundred pages a book. I can't get enough - I was thrilled at the release of the arc story "Alloy of Law." It's awesome how he was able to progress an empire's technology over 300ish years. He did a great job with the changes in the world over time in the first three books, then having a jump in time between those and this arc story. That, and his books "Elantris" (Which I believe was the first), "Warbreaker," and "The Way of Kings - Book one of the Stormlight Archive" are outstanding! I love how they are all different worlds, but part of the same universe - or "Cosmere" as he refers to it. Each with "Shards" of a creator left to preside over them. Each representing an aspect of the creator "Adonalsium" (which you can read more about here: coppermind.17thshard.com/wiki/… if you chose to do so...I would recommend reading all of the aforementioned books first, though). He is a creative genius. I enjoyed the short story he wrote that takes place between two Iphone games. "Infinity Blade - Awakening." Really well written...I only wish I had an Iphone so I could play the games and see what they are about. There was another short story he wrote called "Firstborn" which is interesting, because it takes place in a futuristic empire, spaceships and stuff, which is really different from his usual writing style - and it is equally well written. He has an ability to write stories in any time period. Be it medieval with swords and spears and bows and arrows, with magics of sorts, or old west style, with pistols, rifles, and shotguns (and magic, as it's a Mistborn story), or the future with spaceships and energy weapons. I'm looking forward to a book in our current era. I'd like to see how he manages that.
Anyway, I'm sure I've wasted enough of your time praising my favorite author - you'd think I were getting paid for advertising :p. Anyway, I'm probably going to play Skyrim for a bit. An excellent addition to the Elder Scrolls series. On the note of computer games, I'm really pleased with the new Star Wars: The Old Republic game that will be coming out. I got to participate in the Beta experience. Let me just say, it was awesome. there are so many amazing features, and skills, and crafting abilities, etc. The game is the best Star Wars game to date. And I've played them all. Makes Galaxies seem like a poorly developed kids game, designed by monkeys. Good job Bioware!
On that note, take care all of you, and hope you get a chance to check out some of the above games/books - I'd go into some of the music I listen to, but we don't have the years required to go into detail on all of the bands I listen to.

Woot! Almost there, only 39 to go. I'm shocked and amazed. It's no 18765612847 that some of these deviant artists get, but for me, that's quite a footnote in web history :)
Thanks everyone!

Jewelry

3 min read
So, I've decided that I thoroughly enjoy making jewelry out of chain maille...even if my arthritis hates me for it. As of right now, I only have 3/32" Inner Diameter 22 gauge copper rings, 1/8" I.D. 22 ga Niobium rings, 1/8" I.D. 22 ga Inconel rings, and some 16 ga 3/8" I.D. blackened Stainless Steel (and some 3/16" on the way) for making jewelry - and I'm taking commissions for Byzantine pattern necklaces (the kind I've posted) and a "Sleek Cuff" style bracelet (which I'm currently using the blackened stainless to do, and am also using it to make a watch band for my uncle). For the bracelet, I think I'll charge $45 (USD) + $5 S&H, and for the Necklaces, prices vary. 20 inch copper will be $75, 18 inch copper will be $67.50, 16 inch will be $60. Other sizes are available, that's just a standard reference for pricing. For inconel, 20 inch will be $90, 18 will be $81, 16 will be $72, etc. For Niobium, being that it costs a bit more, will be $100 for 20, $90 for 18, and $80 for 16, etc. Regardless of weight, the S&H is $5, but if you spend $100 or more, it will naturally be free. All items come with quality jewelry boxes, and will be burnished in red walnut for superior cleaning - the blackened stainless will actually be hand polished, as the red walnut leaves a residue on the black dye (not sure what is used to blacken it, and this is an unfortunate side effect). There will be NO fingerprints or any greasy disgusting hand marks on your jewelry. I plan to be getting more ring sizes and patterns in the not to distant future, and naturally, the more I sell, the more I can buy. There are a great many materials available to be bought - including 10k pure gold, 99.9% fine silver, sterling silver, 14k filled gold, titanium, aluminum, nickel, brass, copper, bronze, stainless steel, inconel, copper, niobium, Bright aluminum, anodized aluminum niobium and titanium, enameled copper, and blackened stainless steel. I will be receiving my own anodizer in a few days, so that process will naturally cost less than if I were to order anodized rings. If you prefer a specific style of clasp, let me know so i can see about ordering it. I prefer magnetic clasps, but I have some lobster claw, and "springing" clasps in copper, as well as some large toggle and hoop clasps. In silver, I have small magnets, a big magnet, and some hooks. I wish I had some duller color clasps for the inconel and niobium in their natural state, as it is a kind of dark grey. In any case, more pictures to come. If you are to purchase/order anything - I have a full lifetime warranty, you just send the product back and I can repair any damage to it, clean it, upgrade to add a pendent if desired, whatever. I only take cash payments, as being disabled I don't have a bank account. Certain arrangements can also be made upon further discussion.

This is a hobby for me, and ins't really intended for the money making aspect - but it always is nice to get a few extra bucks with all the medical nonsense I've been having to pay out of pocket. Disability medical insurance (medicare) for some strange reason takes 2 years to kick in, and with my condition being potentially lethal, I can't wait that long.

So, every other time I open a link to someone's pictures I get a warning on my web browser stating that Deviant Art has some kind of viagra shoreline or some such that is known to purport spyware/malware. What's this all about?! I'm not too happy to be getting assaulted by spam and spyware when I am out appreciating art. Art Museums don't advertise sex pills or mail you fliers when you visit them, Deviant Art should not do so either. :@

thoughts tumble forth onto a blank page - another day passes into a hot night. i spend each moment trying to decide if another is worth spending - how many moments can pass used on nothing? as the seconds pass into hours, night into day again, i find that there is nothing: everything is a lie. how can a world exist in only one place, how can it exist at all? if i die, does the world continue on? as i live, is this a dream, or am i really here? how can i know that i am occupying a space in time, and not simply a passing thought, an errant idea, drifting in and out of someone's mind in the few seconds it takes to write a name, or sign a document. who am i to say that the sun's rise and fall isn't merely a Random Occurrence, never to happen again?
